Admission Considerations
- The Montessori Toddler Program is for children who are steady on their feet—approximately 12 to 14 months old—through the age of 3 years.
- The Montessori Primary Classroom is a three-year program designed for children ages 2 1/2 to 6. Children can enter when they are at least 2 years and 9 months old and are on their way to using the bathroom independently. Because children are considered “kindergarten” age if they turn 5 before September 1st, those who begin prior to age 3 may require a fourth year in the Primary class.
- The Montessori Elementary Classroom is designed for children with previous Montessori experience. When considering an elementary student new to the school, the child will visit and the elementary Teacher will assess academic skills and readiness for the independence and responsibility of working in a Montessori elementary classroom.
Admissions decisions are made by the administration and teaching staff. These decisions are based not only on an evaluation of the potential success of the child in a Montessori classroom but also on the needs of existing classes with regard to balance of age and sex. If a place is not immediately available, the child may be placed in the wait pool. Parents will be notified when a space becomes available.
Montessori Children’s Academy admits students of any economic and social class, racial and ethnic heritage, religious belief and family structure.
